Reduce Sun Damage and Even Your Skin Tone With IPL
An IPL Photofacial is one of the most effective ways to address the pigmentation and redness concerns that accumulate over years of sun exposure and environmental damage.
At Bella Aesthetica Medical Spa, our IPL Photofacial uses the Rohrer Spectrum to deliver precise bursts of broad-spectrum light energy into the skin, targeting melanin and hemoglobin to break down sun spots, reduce redness, and fade broken capillaries. The treatment is non-ablative, meaning the skin surface remains intact, and most clients experience minimal downtime. With a series of sessions, the results are a progressively clearer, more even, and more radiant complexion that reflects a genuinely healthier skin quality.

How IPL Targets and Clears Your Skin
IPL, or intense pulsed light, delivers multiple wavelengths of light energy simultaneously into the skin. This broad-spectrum light is selectively absorbed by pigmented and vascular targets including melanin in sun spots and hemoglobin in blood vessels and redness. The targeted cells absorb the light energy, heat up, and are gradually broken down and eliminated by the body's natural processes. Over the course of several treatments, sun spots darken, flake off, and fade, while redness and broken capillaries gradually diminish, leaving the skin noticeably clearer and more uniform in tone.
A consultation and skin assessment to evaluate your pigmentation, redness, and skin tone to determine your IPL candidacy and protocol.
The skin is cleansed, a cool gel is applied, and protective eyewear is provided before treatment begins.
The IPL handpiece is applied across the treatment area, delivering calibrated pulses of light energy to the targeted pigmentation and vessels.
The gel is removed, soothing products are applied, and your provider reviews your aftercare and expected post-treatment progression.

Who Is a Good Candidate for IPL Photofacial
IPL is best suited to patients with lighter skin tones who have visible sun damage, redness, or uneven pigmentation they would like to address. It is not appropriate for darker skin tones or recently tanned skin, and your provider will assess your candidacy carefully during the consultation.
- Sun spots, age spots, and freckles caused by UV exposure.
- Redness, flushing, and rosacea-related skin tone irregularities.
- Broken capillaries and visible surface vessels.
- Uneven skin tone and mild pigmentation concerns.
- Patients looking to restore a clearer, brighter overall complexion.
The Benefits of IPL Photofacial
IPL is a powerful treatment for patients whose skin has been marked by years of sun exposure, and the improvement over a series of sessions can be genuinely transformative. Clients often notice not only a reduction in their pigmentation and redness but a renewed uniformity and brightness to their overall complexion.

Post-Treatment Tips
After your IPL Photofacial, treated sun spots will temporarily darken before they flake away over the following one to two weeks. This is a completely normal and expected part of the process. Protecting the skin and following your aftercare instructions during this period will ensure the best possible outcome.
Apply a broad-spectrum SPF every day without exception, as sun protection is critical before, between, and after all IPL treatments.
Use gentle, soothing skincare products and avoid anything that could irritate the skin during the healing period.
Allow any darkened spots or mild peeling to resolve naturally without interference.
Do not pick at or scratch any darkened spots or areas of peeling skin, as disturbing the process can lead to scarring or uneven clearing.
Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanner for at least two weeks before and after each IPL session.
Do not use retinol, exfoliating acids, or other active ingredients until the skin has fully healed and your provider confirms it is safe to resume.
